The Perfect Roadmap?

If you spend more time looking for materials than working on them, this is for you.

I finally did it. I’ve always wanted to build my own blog and write about my thoughts and research projects. It took three years of procrastination and just one day of actual effort to build it.

My intention for this particular post is to talk about a problem I’ve personally struggled with: I’d search the whole internet for the best resource, and just as I started one, I’d find something better and lose interest. I’d end up teasing my brain with the pursuit of the work but never actually doing it. I made so many lists and sheets to keep track of the courses and materials I’d gotten my hands on, but in the end, I never finished any of them.

It all made sense to me when a close friend told me, “When you eat a cookie, you bite from any direction, and in the end, you still eat the cookie.”

What I’m trying to convey is that you don’t have to find the perfect roadmap to get started with research, or whatever it is that drives you. You need to start somewhere, finish it, and start somewhere else and finish that too — and just hope your brain will link them together later on.
